(Alliance News) - Renault SA on Thursday hailed the success of its new product launches as it posted a slight decline in revenue amid a "challenging environment".
The Paris-based car maker, which also has the Dacia, Alpine and Mobilize brands, said revenue in the first quarter of 2025 edged down by 0.3% to EUR11.68 billion from EUR11.71 billion a year prior.
Driving this reduction was a contraction in Automotive, with revenue falling 3.0% to EUR10.13 billion from EUR10.45 billion.
However, sales improved 2.9% to 564,980 from 549,204 the prior year. Passenger Car sales rose 8.3% to 486,061 from 448,633, while Light Commercial Vehicles sales reduced 22% to 78,919 from 100,571.
The firm attributed its sales growth to successful new product launches, which it noted occurred in a difficult market environment.
Renault reaffirmed its 2025 outlook, expecting a group operating margin of greater than or equal to 7% and free cash flow of greater than or equal to EUR2 billion. These figures were 7.4% and EUR2.88 billion respectively in 2024.
Shares in Renault were up 3.2% to EUR46.39 on Thursday morning in Paris.
Chief Financial Officer Duncan Minto commented: "In 2025 Q1, Renault Group outperformed the market with a 2.9% growth in worldwide sales despite a challenging environment. This growth is driven by the success of our recent launches.
"In Q1, they represented 28.3% of our invoices and they will continue to increase in the coming quarters, thanks to the gradual ramp-up of our new products. By the end of 2025, Renault Group will benefit from the freshest line-up in the European market while expanding its coverage with its International game plan. "
