Thales SA - Paris, France-based electronic system's manufacturer for the defence and aerospace industries - Confirms that investigations have been initiated by the French Parquet National Financier and the UK Serious Fraud Office into four Thales "entities" in the France and UK, "regarding the performance of a contract in Asia". Thales denies all allegations and says it is fully cooperating with the probes, as it does with all government guidelines. Full details of the investigation have not been released. The announcement follows a police search of Thales offices in June by French, Dutch and Spanish authorities over suspicions of corruption linked to arms sales.
SFO Director Nick Ephgrave said: "We will together rigorously pursue every avenue in our investigation into these serious allegations." He hoped the investigation would reinforce the SFO's and PNF's "long-standing relationship, built on mutual cooperation and shared success".
